Types of Thoughts
There are all types of thoughts. Some make us feel good, while others can help make us feel bad. Thoughts that make us feel bad that may not be grounded in truth are called thought distortions. You can imagine thought distortions like trying to look into a mirror that is cracked. Sure you may see your image, but it will look distorted because of the breaks in the mirror. Here are some very common thought distortions. See how many you tend to have and next time you notice you are having one, name, it, “Hey, that’s a mind-reading thought.” Try to notice how the thought makes you feel, and see if the thought is an actual image of what is really going on.
