Mom Needing Therapy

From Care Coordinator (CC):

Hi Lisa, My name is Maureen and I am your Mammha Care Coordinator. I work with Dr. X to help support her postpartum moms. I saw from your screen today that you may be feeling a little not like yourself. I am here to make sure we get you all the support you need, because moms are the most important :).

We have a mom group today at 11 am and we would love to have you! We have a couple of other local new moms. Babies are welcome and it’s online. You can just listen if that feels best. Here is the link if you want to join (insert link).

Mom:

Hi Maureen, thank you very much for getting back to me! I will join the meeting and see how it feels. Thank you!

From CC:

Hi Lisa, I just wanted to check in to see how you are doing this week. It’s just Monday, but hopefully it's going well. How's your sleep going?

Mom:

Hi Maureen, thank you for checking in! I'm doing ok today, sleep has not been an issue so far so that's good. It's more like mood swings sometimes.

From CC:

So first let's celebrate getting some sleep! So for mood swings, what are they like? Are you getting angrier? Or are you feeling more like your thoughts can’t stop, or you have a lot of worries?

From Mom:

Agreed, sleep is so crucial!! Feeling more like my thoughts don't stop, they are not filled with worries necessarily but I'm just not feeling happy feelings a lot of times. Not feeling like myself. There is rarely excitement about things that used to excite me or make me happy.

From CC:

Thank you for sharing. Have you ever worked with a therapist? They can be really helpful, especially with this. It really sounds like postpartum anxiety. It happens to 20% of women and looks just like how you are describing. Also, has your doctor done any blood work on you recently? Sometimes having low vitamin D, which is super common, but even more so after having a baby, can cause a lot of anxiety, also low iron, again super common, this can make us feel low, and less happy. And thyroid too. I just had a mom the other day who was feeling similar, and she got her blood work done and all three of those things were off. I had low D recently and it was so crazy how it impacted my anxiety.

I can help connect you to a good therapist who is trained in working with postpartum moms who take your insurance.:) We want you feeling like you :). You deserve it.

From Mom:

I just got my blood work back actually and all looks "normal" and is in the green area, which was surprising to me! Yes, I would like to be connected to a therapist to see how I can benefit from it. I would also love to go back to feeling like myself :))

CC:

You got it! Well, I am glad the blood work looks good! Let me check what your insurance is and get you connected :))).

And do you have a preference that your therapist speak a certain language or come from a certain cultural background?

From Mom:

Thank you so much! I am currently with Florida blue options and having a therapist who listens to me is most important.

From CC:

Good Morning Lisa! I have a referral for you for a great center that only works with postpartum moms! They are called Better Beginnings and they take your insurance! Here is their phone number if you want to schedule your first virtual session. (352) 462-9484.

I will make sure to check in after a couple of your first sessions to make sure you feel like it's a good match and that it's helpful. If it doesn't feel right, I will find you someone else. :)

From Mom:

Thank you so much for your help! I will give them a call and schedule a session

From CC:

Awesome!

From Mom:

Hi Maureen, how are you doing ? I still haven't contacted the number you sent to me but I just changed my insurance and wanted to see with you if you can help me find someone who's in my new network since it's a different network now. My new insurance is Florida Blue Blue care and it's an HMO. Please let me know if you can help. Thank you so much πŸ™

From CC:

Hi Lisa, so good to hear from you. Better Beginnings takes that insurance as well! SO, great news! (352) 462-9484. I will, of course, follow up to make sure it feels like a good fit. I think they may still be open if you call now. They can start to schedule you for sometime soon. :)

From Mom:

Ok thank you so much! Will try them shortly

From CC:

Awesome! Let me know if you reach them and are able to schedule. That way I can be sure to check back after your first session to make sure it's a good fit.

From CC:

Hi Lisa, Happy Monday! Just wanted to see if you were able to reach the therapist to get a first session scheduled. I can have them reach out to you if that would be easier. 😍

From Mom:

Hi Maureen, I hope all is well! Yes, I actually took an appointment with them for tomorrow actually! So I'm excited to see how that goes 😍😍

From CC:

I am so excited too!!!
