Pregnant Mom

From CC:

Hi Leslie, My name is Maureen and I am a Mammha Care Coordinator. I am here to help support you. I work with your OB and her midwives. I see from your screen that you are not feeling great. I am here to make sure we get you all the support you need. I had a rough pregnancy with my first son. I am sorry it's not feeling great.

From Mom:

Hi Maureen, I'm sorry too, I wish it was different. I struggled with depression before the pregnancy but now that I'm pregnant it feels worse, and I'm worried about the baby.

From CC

Oh, I am so sorry. I wish I could give you a hug. Let's get you better.

Do you have a therapist you are speaking with?

And just so you have this, we have our mom support group today. We would love to have you. I am leading it. It's 11 am and we have women who are pregnant and postpartum. I know these women would love to give you support today. To rally around you to let you know how amazing you are, and to listen. You can listen from your phone or earbuds or in the car or out on a walk. Here is the link: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZItcOuqrTksGtwvKoc10mkBKi8oEG06k4J9

From Mom:

I had a therapist but we were not a great fit honestly, I really wanted to make it work but I left the sessions feeling so empty that I stopped about a month ago.

From CC:

You are so smart to have stopped going if it wasn't a good fit. Let's find someone new and I will be following up with you so if it's not a great fit again, we can quickly make it better. Do you have any preferences for your therapist to speak a certain language or be from a certain cultural background? We want you to be comfortable.

From Mom:

Yea it was hard for me, because I really want it to work. I know I would preferably like someone who is a woman, Christian and black if that's possible.

From CC:

I will start my search now. I think I have a great therapist. Let me reach out to her.

And I just shared this group with another mom. Like, just shared it. Let me share it with you.

This is a group from Postpartum Support International. I lead groups for them and they have a great group on Sundays called Black Moms Connect. It's for women who are experiencing depression and anxiety during pregnancy and postpartum. I had a mom in the group and she loved it. She found so much support in that group. It's 6 pm. Here is the link to register with Hey Peers, that's the platform that hosts the group. Once you are registered with hey peers just search Black Moms Connect. https://heypeers.com/meetings

From Mom:

I'm sorry wasn't able to attend the 11am one, I was actually in a Work meeting on Teams which I had to interact on

From CC:

No worries. :) I am reaching out to two different therapists right now. I hope to have some good news soon. :)

I really love this therapist! She is accepting new clients and she takes your insurance. She specializes in working with pregnant and postpartum moms. Here is her website: https://oddestyk.com/ratesandinsurance

Here is her page about working with moms: https://oddestyk.com/therapyformoms

And here is her phone number: Phone: 334-420-7229 or 800-822-3307.

From Mom:

Thank you! I just submitted a consultation form.

From CC:

Awesome!! I'll check back in to see if she reached out and if you were able to get a session scheduled. And if you need anything over the weekend, don't hesitate to reach out. That's what I'm here for.

From Mom:

I'll be honest, I am not the type to ask for help. I am pretty reserved and I self isolate a lot. So I'll try to reach out but if I don't reach out do you mind just checking in?

From CC:

OF COURSE! And I am going to be checking in on you a lot. <3 Thank you so much for knowing yourself and for asking. You are pretty inspiring. Thanks for the lesson.

From Mom:

I wouldn't say all that but thank you!
