Women of Color

Here are some resources that can help you find the support you need. You will find listings for where you can find therapists, support groups, podcasts, and organizations.

Therapy

Postpartum Support International

Postpartum Support International

Postpartum Support International has a large directory of trained clinicians. You can easily customize your search by selecting therapists that take your insurance, by gender, by treatment specialty, languages they speak, if online is an option, and by clinicians of color. To search by clinicians of color, select the specialty box to select what filters you want to select.

Therapy for Black Girls

Therapy for Black Girls

Therapy for Black Girls is an online space dedicated to encouraging the mental wellness of Black women and girls. You have the ability to search for therapists of color in your area and if they are accepting new clients, and if they offer online teletherapy. There is no feature available at the moment to allow you to search for a therapist who specializes in treating women with a maternal mental health complication.

Therapy for LatinX

Therapy for LatinX

Therapy for Latinx was created to make the process of finding a therapist as easy as possible. Search their listings to find therapists that honor who you are and provide services with dignity. You have the ability to search for therapists that are practicing near you. You can type in a specialty into their search bar as well as select other filters like insurance, gender, and language. They may not have as robust a list as Postpartum Support International’s Provider Directory for clinicians who specialize in treating women experiencing a maternal mental health complication.

Organizations

Shades of You, Shades of Me

One of our favorite movers and shakers in this space is Shades of You, Shades of Me, (SOYSOM). Shonita Roach, the founder and CEO of SOYSOM, hosts several conferences throughout the year addressing multicultural maternal mental health for mothers, advocates, and professionals.
